Calendar of Upcoming Events Carmel by the Sea - June 25, 2016 to July 9, 2016


A quick rundown of the events for the next two weeks: 

1. Annual Carmel Heritage Society House and Garden Tour – June 25, 2016 (1pm to 5pm)



Have you ever wanted to go behind the gates of some of Carmel-by-the-Sea’s historic homes?  This is your opportunity.  Eight homes will be open.  The Dune’s, built in 1846, The First Brick House built in 1898, The Charles Sumner Greene Studio, Villa Scimmia build by M. J. Murphy, Curtain Calls built by Hugh Comstock, the Frank Lloyd Wright House built in 1952, the Church of the Wayfarer, and First Murphy House which showcases the brand new exhibit Carmel Then/Now.  Tickets are available on line at Carmel Heritage or at First Murphy House at Lincoln and 6th the day of the event.  




2. Rock and Rod Show at Custom House Plaza, Monterey -  June 25, 2016 (10am to 6:30pm)

Rock ‘n’ roll and hot rods come together at the Custom House Plaza next to Fisherman’s Wharf.  This is a show of classic cars manufactured before 1975 and is free for spectators.   


3. Bacon Fest Monterey June 25, 2016 and June 26, 2016 - 11am to 6pm  (Monterey County Fair and Event Center, 2004 Fairground Road)


It is all about bacon as vendors at the Bacon Fest feature food made with bacon as the main ingredient and the BaconBar serves Bacon Margaritas and Bacon Bloody Marys. Chef Todd Fisher of Tarpy’s Roadhouse and host of TV’s United States of Bacon as well as Chef Tony Baker of Bakers Bacon will be serving up bacon culinary masterpieces all day.  There will also be a great line up of bands and performers at the Garden Stage.   For more information visit Monterey Bacon Fest


4.  Mary Poppins at the Golden Bough Theater Carmel-by-the-Sea (Monte Verde between 8th and 9th)

Pac Rep is presenting the always fun and entertaining stage show, Mary Poppins. For dates, times, and ticket prices visit Pacific Repertory Theater .


5. Evenings By The Bay - Monterey Bay Aquarium, 886 Cannery Row


Take advantage of extended hours at the Monterey Aquarium while enjoying wine, food, music and more on Saturdays and Sundays from July 2 to September 4.  Aquarium admission includes the extended hours till 8pm, but note that not all exhibits will be open during those extended hours. Locals receive reduced admission price after 6pm. For more information call 831/648-4800 or visit montereybayaquarium.org.

6. California State University Summer Arts Program at CSUMB, World Theater, 5260 6th Avenue, Seaside, CA


June 27, 2016 - Stage Combat Fight Choreography Lecture and Demonstration 7pm ($13 students, $15 regular) 
June 28, 2016 - Barry Underwood Photography Lecture 7pm ($8 students, $10 regular)
June 29, 2016 - Vinton Heuck and Christopher Notbusch Animation, Media, and Sculpture Lecture 7pm ( $8 students, $10 regular)
July 1, 2016 - David Goetsch Writing and Media Lecture 7pm ($8 students, $10 regular) 




7. Local Fourth of July Celebrations – July 4, 2016 

Carmel-by-the-Sea 12 to 4 pm in Devendorf Park – An old-fashioned, family-style celebration with entertainment, food and lots of games for the kids.  Bring your blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy the afternoon in the park.  All food and festivities are FREE! 

City of Monterey 
Pancake Breakfast at the Firehouse 600 Pacific Street from 7 - 11am ($10)
Parade 10am down Alvarado and Calle Principal
Lawn Party 11am -Colton Hall 570 Pacific Street Monterey Country Pops! Golden State Theater 417 Alvarado Street - Free doors open at 6pm, concert begins at 7pm.
