Calendar of Upcoming Events in Carmel-by-the-Sea for October 16 - October 31, 2016
Carmel-by-the-Sea celebrates its 100th year this October 31, 2016. The first two weeks were jam packed and are already behind us. Carmel's Centennial Celebration will culminate with a spectacular parade October 29th, where former Mayor Clint Eastwood with be serving as Parade Grand Marshall. Here are some of the highlights for the last two weeks of October.
The Carmel-by-the-Sea Garden Club presents A "Bee-utiful" Garden Tour & The Unique Boutique Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 11am to 3pm. Take a self guided walking tour of six private gardens and visit the Unique Boutique at Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch Patio Barn which will feature a variety of one-of-a-kind stunning items. Carmel International Film Festival - (Various locations)
The eighth annual Carmel International Film Festival takes place at various venues in and around Carmel. It is four days of non-stop events, from films, and talks, to parties, dinner, golf, and an expansion of the successful Music Cafe that began last year. Check their site for the latest line up, news, and ticket information.
Extended through October 31! in Sunset Center North Gallery (Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm) "Then/Now: Carmel Heritage Celebrates the Mayors of Carmel." Each of the 32 mayors of Carmel will have a plaque with a short biography about their life and a list of the major terms of events that happened during their time as mayor. Come by and learn about Carmel history!
Also at Sunset Center Saturday, October 22 thru Sunday, October 23 The Monterey Symphony features a commissioned work inspired by Robinson Jeffers and composed by the amazingly talented Emmy Award winning composer John Wineglass in honor of the Carmel Centennial.
Thursday, October 20 thru Sunday, November 6, 2016 PacRep's Carmel Shakespeare Festival presents "King Lear" at the Circle Theatre on Casanova between Eighth and Ninth.
56th Annual Sandcastle Contest - Sunday, October 23, 2016
Sandcastle Competition at Carmel Beach, south of 10th Avenue. Building starts at 8am with judging from 12pm - 2pm. Don't miss this Carmel tradition!

5:15PM Pre-show "The Abalone Club" performance at the Outdoor Forest Theatre. Celebrating Carmel's 100th Birthday through a prism of performing arts. FREE!
Carmel's 100th birthday parade on Saturday, October 29, 2016 will be epic! The Wells Fargo Stagecoach will arrive and riding atop the stagecoach will be former Mayor Clint Eastwood. Here is a rundown of the days events.
10:40am Parade Pre-show (see map parade route) - bleacher seats will be available first come first serve around route.
11:00am Parade - one hour and fifteen minutes of fun, frivolity, and floats.
12:15pm Luncheon - Sunset Center parking lot. Tickets are SOLD OUT.
5:00pm Street Dance - "Dancing Through the Decades" to the tunes of "The Money Band" (voted best band in Monterey County by Monterey County Weekly) down Dolores between Ocean and Seventh! Music and dancing till around 8pm. Dancing is free, food and drink may be purchased from Little Napoli, La Bicyclette or Cantinetta Luca.
