Get Ready for the 18th Annual Carmel Heritage Society Inns of Distinction - December 4th, 2016

On Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 2 to 5 pm, Carmel Heritage Society will hold its 18th annual Inns of Distinction.  This event is one of the best tickets of the holiday season!  Purchase on line $35 for Carmel Heritage members, and $40 for non-members.

On the day of the event, pick up your ticket and commemorative wine glass at First Murphy House on Lincoln and Sixth.  Day of tickets may also be purchased at First Murphy for $45.  Then head out for your Carmel adventure.

Tour guests may choose to drive this tour.  If so plan on circling blocks over and over again to find parking.  I suggest walking this tour.  The entire tour route is 1.5 miles (starting at First Murphy House and ending at Lamp Lighter Inn). Walking distance between each inn is about five minutes. If you walk, use this map and follow my plan as to the order you visit inns.

But first a word about parking.  You may park in the downtown area for two hours at a time.  This tour takes longer to really enjoy.  You may park outside downtown in the residential district for the entire duration of the tour.  There are also free parking lots at Junipero and Third (Vista Lobos Parking Lot) and Mission and Eighth (Sunset Parking Lot).

Walking Tour - Carmel Inns of Distinction

From First Murphy House, head north on Lincoln to turn right on Fifth and left on San Carlos to Candle Light Inn and enjoy your tasting of the artisan wines of Cima Collina pared with a tasteful creation by Chef Mario Luevano of The Grill on Ocean by the outdoor firepit.

Next walk one block north on San Carlos to the newly renovated Hotel Carmel.  Here Brophy's Tavern will provide light pub fare to accompany your wine tasting from Albatross Ridge

To continue walk south on San Carlos to Fourth Avenue and turn left then left again on Junipero to Horizon Inn where you will enjoy wine tasting from J. Lohr Vineyards along with some country French cuisine prepared by chef-owner Kerry Loutas of L'Escargot

One half mile south on Junipero brings tour visitors to the next two inns. First, Carriage House with wine tasting from Manzoni and a light bite from Bruno's Market and next door

The Hideaway where Shale Canyon Wines are poured and crab cakes from Flaherty's are served.

At the corner of Junipero and Eighth turn right and then right again on Lincoln.  Walk one block north to the corner of Seventh and Lincoln and you arrive at the legendary Cypress Inn. Delectable treats from Terry's Lounge Restaurant will be served as well as wines from Heller Estate

Finally, one more short 5 minute walk brings tour guests to the last inn, the historic Lamp Lighter located on the south east corner of Ocean Avenue and Camino Real. Relax by one of their two charming fire pits while enjoying Spanish tapas from Mundaka and wine from Scheid Vineyards.

I hope you check out this years Carmel Heritage Society Inns of Distinction.  Tickets are still available and may be purchased on line!

Until next time Happy Adventures!
